Original 1970s Herman Miller Soft Pad 208 chair with matching ottoman, designed by Charles and Ray Eames in vary rare cognac leather and 3 inches cushions.
The signature "soft pad" construction, introduced in 1969, features individual 3-inch thick foam pads. These pads attach to a lightweight, robust die-cast aluminum frame via clips, offering enhanced ergonomic support. The maker's mark is cast into the aluminum frame. The chair includes a tilt-swivel mechanism for dynamic movement and adjustability.
The high-quality cognac leather in remarkably nice and supple for its age. Very small, barely noticeable holes are present on the seat, consistent with age and use. The clear coat has been removed. With regard to the other aluminum elements, condition is excellent and could be polished further if desired.
This Herman Miller Soft Pad 208 chair and ottoman set is in good vintage condition. Possibility to buy the ottoman separately.
