Originally conceived by Austrian architect and designer Josef Hoffmann in the early 20th century, this bench was produced by Wittmann Möbelwerkstätten, the long-standing Viennese manufacturer authorized to reissue Hoffmann’s furniture. The design embodies Hoffmann’s characteristic balance between rational geometry and artisanal detail: a rhythmic composition of vertical rods and curved framing.
This example has been newly upholstered in a deep raspberry mohair wool imported, offering a tactile counterpoint to the black lacquered wood structure. The contrast between plush textile and architectural line underlines the Vienna Secession’s enduring influence on modern furniture.
Excellent restored condition; frame retains minor traces of age.
